Stay safe — current advisories

Avoid Plateau, Benue & Southern Kaduna rural roads at night

Frequent attacks on farming communities and travellers after dusk. Travel in daylight convoys and inform a relative of your route.

Abuja–Kaduna expressway: prefer rail or air

Repeat kidnappings on the road. The standard-gauge rail and Kaduna airport are safer options.

Sokoto, Zamfara & Katsina hinterland: avoid solo travel

Banditry corridor. Move only with state-approved security escorts; some LGAs have movement restrictions.

Borno, Yobe & Adamawa fringe LGAs: respect curfews

Boko Haram / ISWAP active in border LGAs. Follow military advisories and travel only on cleared routes.

South East 'sit-at-home' Mondays

Unofficial enforcement still occurs in parts of Imo, Anambra, Abia. Plan critical travel for other weekdays.

Lagos: be cautious at danfo parks at night

Petty crime spikes after 9pm at Oshodi, Obalende, Mile 12. Use ride-hail with shared trip info.

Niger Delta creeks & oil-corridor roads

Risk of pipeline-related ambushes. Avoid stopping in remote creek roads, especially around Bayelsa and Rivers riverine LGAs.

Anti-protest crackdowns

Document any police use of force on video; share with verified outlets (Premium Times, Sahara Reporters). Know your rights — see EiE Nigeria 'know your rights' guide.

Note: phone numbers change. If a number doesn't ring, try 112 or the next nearest command. If you are reporting harassment or abuse by an officer, document on video, save a copy off-device, and contact a verified outlet (Premium Times, Sahara Reporters, HumAngle) or a legal-aid clinic.
